Chichibu Fruit Farm

  • Grapes
  • Strawberries

Located in a beautiful valley and surrounded by vast and breathtaking mountains and greenery, Chichibu Fruit Farm is situated in a part of the Chichibu area that can be quite easily accessed from the station.

Thanks to the recent renewal of the greenhouses in 2016, it is now barrier-free, with lockers to leave your baggage safe, Western-style toilets in all facilities, and numerous other improvements.

At this farm, you can take part in thrilling and enjoyable activities such as strawberry-picking, from the beginning of January until the beginning of May, and get your hands on many delicious and popular strawberry brands such as Benihoppe, Yayoihime, Mouikko, as well as two new brands that were created in 2017 in this very area – Amarin and Kaorin.

The strawberries are all carefully nurtured so that they will be fully ripened and ready for visitors on the weekends, however, due to the limited amount of strawberries available, it is a good idea to head to the farm to enjoy this lovely event during the mornings on Saturdays and Sundays.

The picking fee and the all-you-can-eat fee for the strawberries varies by the season you visit in, costing anywhere from 1200-1700 yen (with tax) for every 30 minutes.

All-you-can-eat fruit pickings! Early August to late August is the season for the Himrod Seedless Grape, the month of September is Kyoho (seeded and seedless varieties) season, and from late September to late October is the season of the Shine Muscat. One-variety grape picking ranges from 1,000 to 2,200 yen (including tax).

Yet another precious opportunity here is the opportunity to give your taste buds a special treat with Chichibu’s Yamaruby, a this-area-only cherished brand of grapes. With its gracious long shape and dazzlingly fresh red colour, Chichibu’s Yamaruby is also quite a handful to raise, so there aren’t many farms that take on such a strenuous task, thus limiting the production of this “phantom” brand.

Chichibu Yamaruby’s ripening period starts from mid-August and lasts to the end of the month, but there are no all-you-can-eat courses organized for this brand. Still, you can get your share of this delicacy for 2160 yen (with tax) per kilogram.

Mr. Arai, the manager of this facility, puts the greatest effort into cultivating the fruits using organic fermentation fertilizers. According to Mr. Arai, “by keeping the soil healthy, you can also keep your fruits healthy, thus protecting the health of the people eating it”.

How about tasting the fruits cultivated in an organic, healthy environment?

Access: To reach the Chichibu Fruit Farm, it takes 30 minutes on foot from Seibu Chichibu Station, and 5 minutes via taxi. If you are using a taxi for your departure, please call the taxi to the farm.
