  • Japanese Pears
  • Peaches

A 20 minute drive from Fukushima Station, Konno Orchard stands along a 1km stretch of road alongside many other orchards. In the aptly nicknamed Fruit Kingdom of Fukushima, at the Konno Orchard they grow many different kinds of fruits, including cherries, pears, and apples.

When visiting Konno Orchard, one fruit that you have to try are their peaches. They grow ten different types of peaches here, including Fukushima’s representative cultivar the akatsuki, as well as Kawanakajima white peaches, and yuzora peaches. Peach picking lasts for about two months; beginning from late July through to late September.

Here are three ways to tell which peaches are the most delicious, as taught to us by the people at Konno Orchard. First, is whether it is soft and round like a baby’s bottom. Second, is whether it has lost all of its green tone, and if the coloring is quite strong. And third is whether there are bead-like bumps on the surface of the peach skin. Only those peaches with a sugar content of 13% or more have this sort of texture.

Konno Orchard is where you will find the freshest and tastiest fruits around. Why not come and try fruit picking with your family and friends here?
