At Yamandon Ukiha Fruit Village, visitors can pick seasonal fruits grown in mineral-rich soil fed by natural springs almost all year round. Many visitors stop by here on the their way both to and from Fukuoka city, or Beppu and Yufuin hot spring areas.

When it was first opened, this sightseeing facility focused on grapes and persimmons, but thanks to customers’ requests to pick blueberries and strawberries, Yamandon Ukiha Fruit Village evolved into a farm where a great number of seasonal fruits can be enjoyed.

“I’m the happiest when I can see customers smiling and exclaiming that something I have cultivated is ‘beautiful'”, says Mr. Sueji, the representative of Yamandon Ukiha Fruit Village. “In fact, we may need to further increase our crops in order to meet the requests of our customers in the future.”

After picking your own fruits, make sure to stop by Mugoyoka, their onsite cafe. Here you can enjoy delicious sweets made with freshly picked seasonal fruits, as well as coffee brewed with spring water, which gives it an exceptional taste.

This is a lovely place to go whenever you visit during the year; for example, while picking strawberries, you can also enjoy the sight of the white pear flowers blooming in the orchard. This is a farm that truly appeals to all the senses.

Although the staff will need to rely on basic English and body language, visitors from overseas are more than welcome here too. There is also free wi-fi available to guests in the rest area too.

If you would like to come and pick your own seasonal fruits, please make sure to make a reservation by phone or email in advance.
