Chikushino Strawberry Farm

Strawberry Fields is a strawberry sightseeing farm widely visited on weekends by travelers, as it is only a short 20km trip away from Fukuoka city. Every plant in the 23 greenhouses located at this farm is grown via raised cultivation (*1), making it the perfect place for families to enjoy together.

As the representative for Strawberry Fields, Mr. Ishibashi has used his years of experience to cultivate several varieties of strawberries with different growth seasons, enabling visitors to come and pick fresh strawberries through a longer season overall. Every Friday morning he carefully counts the number of strawberries available by hand, and then decides on the number of reservations the farm is able to take for that weekend – this attention to detail means that visitors need not worry about the number of strawberries that they can enjoy during their time at Strawberry Fields.

In addition, in order to make things more enjoyable for visitors from abroad, there are toilet facilities which have washlet functions, as well as signs and pamphlets in English onsite too. Not only that, but it seems Mr. Ishibashi has even begun attending an English conversation school so that he can better communicate with guests from around the world.

In 2016, they also opened a sweet shop called Shukure Fura-zu (Sucre Fraise in French, or Sweet Strawberry in English) where you can savor sweets made from freshly picked strawberries. This cafe, which can be visited either after picking strawberries or on its own during your travels, is the perfect place to go if you want to eat some truly delicious, fresh strawberry treats.

*1 Raised cultivation: a method of growing strawberries or other plants in a shelf system that places them off the ground.
